1. Who we are
Rydelinx LLC ("Rydelinx", "we", "us") runs the Rydelinx rider app, the Rydelinx Driver app and rydelinx.com (the "Services"), which connect riders with independent drivers in New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Rhode Island. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to riders, drivers, driver applicants and website visitors. Please also read our Terms of Service.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: mobile phone number, name, email address, profile photo and home city. Except for your phone number, these are optional for riders.
- Saved places: addresses you save, such as Home, Work or custom labels.
- Payment information: card details are entered into and stored by our payment processor, Stripe. We receive only limited details, such as card type, last four digits and expiry date. We never store your full card number.
- Emergency contacts: names and phone numbers you add to the Safety Center.
- Communications: in-app chat messages, support requests, safety reports, ratings and comments.
Additional information from drivers and applicants
- Government ID, photo, driver's license, vehicle insurance, registration, vehicle details (make, model, year, color, plate) and vehicle photos, with document review status and expiry dates.
- Background check information, collected with your written authorization through a consumer reporting agency.
- Bank account details for payouts. These are collected and held by Stripe Connect.
- Earnings, trips, ratings, online time and cash collected.
Information collected when you use the Services
- Location: see Section 5.
- Trip information: pickup and drop-off, route, distance, duration, ride type, airline selected for airport rides, scheduled ride times, price, tip, payment type and cancellations.
- Device and usage information: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, crash logs, and how you use app features.
- Call and message metadata: when you call or chat through the app, we route the connection through a provider that hides both phone numbers. We keep the date, time and duration of calls and the text of in-app chats. We do not record calls.
Information from others
- Ratings and comments about you from other riders or drivers.
- Payment confirmations and fraud signals from Stripe.
- Background check results and motor vehicle records for drivers.
- Insurance and claims information if you are involved in an incident.
3. How we use it
- Provide rides: match riders and drivers, show upfront prices, route drivers to the right pickup point and airport door, run scheduled rides, process payments and payouts, and send receipts.
- Keep people safe: verify drivers, run background checks, respond to SOS alerts and safety reports, share your live location with 911 or your emergency contacts when you ask us to, and investigate incidents.
- Support: answer questions, resolve disputes and handle insurance claims.
- Communicate: send sign-in codes, ride updates and service messages. Promotional messages are sent only where allowed, and you can opt out.
- Prevent fraud and misuse: detect payment fraud, fake accounts and violations of our Terms.
- Improve the Services: fix bugs, measure performance and develop features. Where possible we use aggregated or de-identified data.
- Meet legal duties: comply with transportation network company rules, including trip data reporting to regulators, plus tax, accounting and other laws.
4. How we share it
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described below.
- Between riders and drivers. Drivers see a rider's first name, photo (if added), rating, pickup and destination. Riders see the driver's name, photo, rating, vehicle make, model, color and plate, and the driver's live location during the trip. Phone numbers are never shared.
- People you choose. When you share your trip status or send an SOS, we share your trip details and live location with the people you select.
- Service providers. Companies that help us run the Services under contracts that limit their use of your data, including:
- Stripe for payments and payouts
- mapping and routing providers
- SMS and number-masking providers
- cloud hosting
- background check providers
- customer support tools
- Regulators and authorities. We share information with state regulators, including the New Hampshire Department of Safety, the Maine Secretary of State and the Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities and Carriers, as well as airports and other authorities, as transportation network company laws and permits require.
- Emergency services and law enforcement. When you contact 911 through the app, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is needed to respond to an emergency, comply with valid legal process, or protect someone's safety.
- Insurers. For accidents, claims and coverage.
- Business transfers. If Rydelinx is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition or sale of assets, personal information may transfer subject to this policy.
5. Location information
- Riders: we collect precise location when the app is open, to set your pickup point, show nearby drivers and track your trip. If you turn off location permission, you can still enter addresses by hand.
- Drivers: we collect precise location while you are online or on a trip, including in the background. We use it to send you requests, navigate, calculate fares, confirm trip routes and support safety.
- We do not sell precise location information or use it for third-party advertising.
6. Cookies and similar tools
Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand basic usage. We do not use cookies for cross-site targeted advertising. We honor browser opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, including legal, regulatory, tax, insurance and safety requirements. Trip and payment records are generally kept for 7 years. Safety reports and background check records are kept as long as the law requires. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your information. The exception is information we must keep for legal, safety, fraud-prevention or dispute purposes.
8. How we protect it
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. These include encryption in transit, access controls and a written information security program consistent with the data security laws of the states where we operate. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
9. Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- confirm whether we process your personal information, and give you access to it;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information (subject to the exceptions in Section 7);
- give you a copy of your information in a portable format; and
- opt out of any targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or profiling with significant effects (we do not currently do any of these).
You can also update your profile and saved places, manage emergency contacts, turn off location permission, and opt out of promotional messages in the app or by replying STOP.
How to make a request: email info@rydelinx.com from your account email, or use Help and Support in the app. We will verify your identity using your account phone number and respond within 45 days. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision. We will respond to your appeal within 60 days. If you are not satisfied with the result of your appeal, you may contact your state Attorney General's office.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
10. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 18, and riders must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our Services or the law change. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect, and update the date at the top.
